The Whale Rider

Twelve year-old Paikea "Pai" Apirana is the only living child in line of a Maori tribe's succession. Traditionally, the leader has always been male. Pai, played by Keisha, must gain the respect of her grandfather and prove she is capable regardless of her gender.
