Let me assure you Yane of Naboo, I love powerful women. Which is not to say I'm some reverse-rolled wimp. Women in place of authority are more prone to administer motherly selflessness, diligence, insight,ܥe# LI,l,l 5(T5 MS Sans Serif Symbol0Courier NewFAN POLL: Which handmadien name from Episode One do you like the best? - Jedi Council

And Giantino: I vote to ask you to verify if you can see Four or Five Handmaidens in the Disco Ball Scene.

And see if you can determine if the glimpse of the Handmaiden behind Sio Bibble in the Theed Trone Room in the beginning is Sache or Yane. I think it was Sache, and I'm Sure it isn't Rabe, and we Know it isn't Eirtae, and the TPM Screenplay Says it isn't Sabe. Just see if it looks like the shots of Sofia Coppola we do have. Please.

And if you get done with That, see what you can discern of the out-focused Handmaidens with silver-zippered hoods that stand behind Queen Amidala in her Senate Appearance gown in her quarters when Anakin comes to visit Padme. By elimination they should be Sabe and Eirtae.

And see if Eirtae actually Shoots anything in the Theed Assault. I know Rabe at least Looks like she's trying to act like she's in a conflict, but Eirtae just seems to be walking around a lot, kind of like an afterthought.

And if you get done with that, could you get a mental imprint of Rabe's outfit in the Amidala's chambers scene when Anakin visits? So far this is what I remember:

Up; up I say.

Hear, hear Hernalt, on the topic of admirably Strong and resourceful Women! And oh yeah, lemme just say..........."RAB"!!! (await Pavlovian response from Hernalt)

(BTW, yes you did do a fanpic of Sab -- remember: she's the one in the black-feather headdress outfit during "The Escape"!)

Me, I'm a devout Kiera Knight you know...

Giantano (And) -- could you please take note of that scene I described above (when Anakin is standing with all 5 HM's in a row in the forest while Amidala talks strategy with Boss Nass etc.) I'd like
to know *when* exactly that shot occurs -- what line of dialog precedes it, or what line does it precede? Thanx. Bonus points: see if you can get the order in which they're standing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've no problem in admitting that the HMs' mere looks factor into my being here. Exotic, focused, dutiful and integritous -- that spells intriguing for me. But please, Yan of Naboo, Giantano et al-- accept that the looks factor is but *one part* of my interest. Besides, sight is usually the source of first impression, no? At any rate, strength in numbers: glad to have you here.
I think frustration (no, not that kind!) is inherent in being a Cult of Handmaidens member. Why? Because so much potential exists in them as characters, without tons of gadgetry, props and SPFX -- and I think there was room to develop this potential in TPM (gripe, gripe; it's all over now, no use in complaining), and there should be room in the upcoming prequels. We can only wait and see. I hope, I really hope, GL doesn't Jedi-mind-trick himself into sending them to character-oblivion. Continuity and Consistency call for them to be in Ep. II at least.
"Cult"? "Panel"? Perhaps it's time to petition Sith Acolyte for official recognition as a new P(SA) Tribe!
(I doubt it)...
I think my attraction to the HM's is not so much that they are powerful but that they are mysterious and subtle.
Better by far to be intrigued by the promise of what lives inside those robes than to be presented with some oh-so-obvious "babe" type.
In short the HM's have class.It's in the way they carry themselves,even in silence they raise the tone of all the Amidala/Theed Palace scenes.
Of course one HM in particular stands out from the crowd
I have to confess that I like the Handmaidens for much the same reasons as marcel.
Painted-on jumpsuits? Tiny metal bikinis? BAH!!! Give me subtlety and class any day... and the Handmaidens have got that in spades.
Lt. Piett, Varrice, marcel_proust, Hernaltet al. I know that looks are not the only reason you find the handmaidens...appealing(is that a good word?) I was just kidding with you guys.
Well now this thread has been truly been corrupted (can you guess with what?) I just hope no one allows this thread turn into the Natalie vs Leia (you know the slave outfit thread)one. (why I ever visited that thread I do not know) Anyway may I make this plea: keep the pictures to ones of the actresses playing the HMs or the HMs themselves. Or I'll have to avoid the thread. Which I would hate to do because the Yan mystery has yet to be solved.
MTFBWY always and Giantano(Andrea, Andy etc) hope you have fun at TPM tomorrow (is it possible that you wouldn't?)
Yane you hit the nail on the head,I've stayed out of that Leia thread precisly because it turned into a parade
of repulsive plastic bimbos like the one displayed above.
Either Darth Eric must find within himself the decency to delete that pic or perhaps an admin can do the job?
This thread must be saved!
Oh ...Darth Eric,I don't want to speak for Varrice but the answer is Yes,a glimpse of a half concealed beautiful face can be more appealing than a whole sticky paged magazine full of that sort of "beauty".
GAHH!! Jeez, Darth Eric, didn't I say something about "subtlety and class" a minute ago? Don't you see that I was not necessarily talking about looks alone, but overall Attractiveness: all aspects of what would draw me to a woman? That qualities such as modesty, innocence, and self respect are far more meaningful to me than prurient physical stimuli?
I prithee, remove the wet T-shirt bimbo, so as to cleanse the Holy Handmaiden Thread of such crass material.
(marcel -- I like your edit to the post above. Well said!!)
marcel_proust, never let it be said that Darth Eric isn't decent. (At least don't repeat to to others -- I have a reputation to keep!)
But I still say that most of you GUYS on here are hipocrits. Given a real world situation, if you had a normal looking girl dressed very conservatively paying attention to you, and an absolutely georgeous one wear sexy clothes paying the same attention to you, there is no way that you'd turn that second girl away. If you say you would, then you are lying to yourself.
And you guys are either a seriously prudish bunch, or you are truly the real life stereotypes of "Star Wars fans", you know -- 40 year old virgins still living in their parents basement.
You need to get out in the real world a little more. Trust me, there are plenty of women who are absolutely stunning (and physically endowed) that are intelligent, fun, and intellectually (and otherwise) stimulating. If you've never met any, than like I said, you need to get out more.
Geez, I miss all the action around here!
Darth Eric, your (stabs at) psychological profiles and prescriptions are neither accurate nor kind. You are trying to assert your objective authority about something that is personal and subjective in nature.
The basis of this thread is aesthetic in nature, not biological or social. Keee-rist, give us some credit!
I have no qualms about considering beautiful women, whether in the Real World or the Virtual. And this is a highly qualified action! Don't fault me for having aesthetic standards and commenting within and through them as I deem necessary.
To speak to your point, still: if the normal-looking, conservatively dressed woman in your scenario conducted herself attractively, or if the strange wonder known as "chemistry" vis-a-vis her was Good, then indeed my attraction would be towards her.
Eric, I do get out a lot, and I always have; I know there are a lot of beautiful, smart, fun women out there. But "you assume too much" if you think that I must necessarily consider attractive the same women as you do. I know it's hard for you to believe, but some among us really, honestly value subtlety (etcetera) over provocative clothing (etcetera). Again, don't assume that just because a certain type of "beauty" turns you on, that it must do the same for me.
Thanks for removing the wet T-shirt pic from your post. The thread is pure once again. Let's see if we can't get back to the original topic...
Well, I'm happy the pic is gone.
the thread is indeed purified.
I've finished my drawing of Amidala and can't decide which to draw next. Rab or Sab. Any opinions? Sometime, when I get the ambition, I'll go find a scanner(I'm sure there has to be one I can use somewhere on campus) and post my drawings.
Again I'm just trying to keep the thread on page one.
Good grief. I don't check in for a few days, and our thread has become philosophical! I'd like to thank the gentlemen for defending the ladies
Okay, I'm off to see Episode I tomorrow night. This is the only place where I can admit it will be my 27th time and not be laughed at. My assignments thus far: For Yane, I'm looking closely and counting the handmaidens at the Disco Ball Parade. Piett would like me to pay special attention to Anakin and the Handmaidens in the forest. And Hernalt, well, his small request list will keep me busy.
Anyone else?
